Your mark sheet does not define you!

Team WOWRAL May 07, 2016

Your marks do not make your life. No, not even your career.

Exams were conducted just to test if the child is studying or not. As the population grew, the competition became severe and suddenly the parameters of ranking and 'good' grades came in and with passage of every year, the competition became neck to neck and now we have a system that focuses solely on the grades. Whether the child has actually understood the concept or not is out of question. Nobody cares. Not the teachers, not the parents and the naive child does not even understand why he made a horse in the long race that will take decades to get over.

Results are being declared and it is a necessity that we do not harass our children. As a responsible citizen it is my duty to let the young ones in my society flourish with a sense that is far more important that A+, As and Bs.

1. Face the truth

1. Face the truth

Rather than going into depression now, accept the fact if you did not study the whole year. Nothing changes in last 1 month. The concepts are bigger than you imagine and you really need to understand that they do take time. If you have not paid attention the whole year, then just let it go now. And seriously, do not fool your parents into thinking that you have been cheated.

Be strong, admit your mistake and then roll up your sleeves to do better what comes next. Prepare fully for the entrance exam that you want to opt for. Entrances check your knowledge and not the mugging. So prepare well.

2. Do not compare

2. Do not compare

Comparison is a waste of time and life. No matter how many times you compare, you cannot increase your marks or decrease someone else's. It is a fact that is not going to change. So rather gear up for what comes next. Prepare well and do better than yourself.

Also sit down with your parents and make them understand that if you have received marks that are not up to the standard, the world is not over. You will still have opportunities that will open hundreds of doors for you and that will be it. Another point here noteworthy is that you need to open up with your parents. Parents do want to be your friends. Do not shun them. They might not be the most perfect or sophisticated parents but so are you and after all, you are a family. It is a necessity that you talk about everything with them. Be open.

3. The society needs more than just Doctors and Engineers

3. The society needs more than just Doctors and Engineers

Yes, no offense to their professions but why involve yourself in something you do not like? Your parents might not agree with you but if you have the willpower and the perfect chalked out plan, they will stand with you. Moreover, the parents of today have changed. They too understand that every child is not built for typical jobs.

Find the opportunities that go well with your passion and stick to them. Find the best institute to learn properly and then branch out to a career that is parallel to no one. But yes, be serious about it. Because wasting time is as good as wasting your life. Find your niche and carve your name.

4. Suicide? Not even an option

4. Suicide? Not even an option

Yes, do not even think about it. It is rightly said that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. There are peopel who love and adore you. Do not break their trust. So what if you are a little scolded? Life has all- ups and downs, rights and wrongs. Stick to it.

Life's too precious to give up.

Few years later, no one will remember your marks but what they will always remember is your behaviour. Be good at it.
