Clean my coach!

Suresh Prabhu, Railway Minister on Friday launched the 'clean my coach' service where a traveler can request for a unclean coach to be swept and cleaned by sending an SMS on mobile number 58888. He had announced the scheme in the Rail Budget in February.

The service is in keeping with the railways' cleanliness drive called, 'Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat', and is being launched from Rail Bhavan via video conferencing in New Delhi/Northern Railway, Mumbai Central/Western Railway and Lucknow Jn/North Eastern Railway.

Under the system, a passenger can also use the app 'Cleanmycoach Indian Railways' or webpage 'cleanmycoach.com' for logging the request, that will be straight away recognized through SMS on mobile phone along with a code.

The server will also send a message to the mobile number of On Board House Keeping (OBHS) staff travelling on the same train along with the particulars of the passenger such as coach number and seat number.

Prabhu said overseas tourists who come to see India, should take excellent memories of comfort travelling in our trains.

He promised better passenger-friendly measures for an improved travelling experience on trains. He said the railways was on the fast track in the field of digitalization, sanitation, passenger amenities, coach designs, mechanized laundries, on board services and social media.
