Fast food, colas, chips, chocolates and the likes dominate your child's food habits? Well, time to change them with simplest of ideas from your own kitchen, with your own hands.
Replace those colas right away!
Substitute the empty calories with fresh fruit juices which are available for every season- oranges, water melons, apples, aam panna and if nothing else, you always have the good old nimbu paani to your rescue!
Explain the importance of the vitamins to your kids and help them memorize the taste.
One must eat the fruits to avail the most benefits. Get creative and make your their favorite flowers and animals out of them.
Got any better source of protein and calcium? Well, in case your child averts from eating them, there are a minimum thousand versions the way you can cook and decorate them. Poach, half fry, boil, omelette, scrambled and so many many more.
Proteins are the building blocks of your children. They need them the most for (as we are taught in school) the wear and tear of the body. It is a must that the kid develops a taste for the vegetables as this will be highly beneficial in the long term. Put in a number of colored vegetables and a handful of sprouts with simple dressings and oils. You may add cheese as well.
Children normally get bored (their reasons are weird as hell!) of chewing the roti. So why not make it interesting by adding vegetable curry of their choice and making a roll? The motto is to make them eat anyhow so why not get innovative?
Never give bland dal to kids. Spice it up with a tadka. Be it a simple one- heeng jeera or with proper onions and tomatoes. Also, serve the dal in a different bowl or preferably handi. Curiosity kills the cat and in this case, curiosity makes children eat!
Kids running away from this delightful version of milk? Introduce raita to them. Mixed vegetables. boondi, pineapple, jeera, cucumber, bhindi- there are so many variants that they will end up liking at least one of them.
How can one not like rice is totally unacceptable! Dal chawal eaten with ghee and pickle is just what you want to eat and lick from your fingers!
Well, getting back to the topic, kids are kids and they do throw tantrums. So get a little creative and use stands and colors to bring out the best in rice.
If something you love and that particular thing is being hated by your kids, how can someone survive? But to our luck, we have variants of idlis available. Pour in some creativity and make your child stuff with that wonderful creation!
Children are really really fussy when it comes to drinking milk (well, weren't we too?). But we had moms who would close our noses, make us sit in one place and would not budge till the time the glass was bottom's up. But kids of today are no where to be held like this. So what do we do? We add some fruits or chocolates and make shakes. The magic begins!
This is something they would want to eat again and again. With dollops of ice creams, add fruits syrups, honey or even nuts!
Your job is done!
