Earth day? Yeah whatever!

Slogan competition.

Essay competition.

Elocution competition.

Fancy dress competition.

This. Is. It.

This is what we do in the name of Earth day- teaching our kids that all problems that earth has can be solved by a few competitions that talk about ideas that can help prevent pollution and slogans of go green, reuse, recycle etc, putting up some pictures of 'Save earth' on our facebook timelines, wearing greens, being alert for one day about wastage of resources and such more dramas. And then by the night, it is over.

We are told that we are the ones responsible for the condition of the planet it is in today yet a handful of among us feel take initiatives and go ahead to do something remarkable and find some measures to lower the extent of harm. What's even worse is that despite knowing the solutions, we seldom act on them.

We might spend billions and millions on researches that might help prevent our dear home while we know the simplest solution is to plant more trees and keep our habits in check. Too difficult? Well not so!

1. Go green- simple?

Instead of gifting those fancy and enormously costly bouquets, why not prefer giving some saplings to people on their special days? We hope you know flowers bloom for a longer time on trees rather than in flower vases. So why not adept to this simple logical reason?

2. Pollution is inversely proportional to your health.

Do we need to explain more?

And even after watching all the harm that is being done to Earth and natural resources, one day you will be forced to go back to old methods of travelling and living.

3. Animals are not your slaves. They were created equal.

The extinction rate of few species in past few decades is alarming. if you have been to school. we hope you have read about the balance in nature (we cannot assume if you understood it!) and why is it necessary for every species to continue. Man was given the brains and the most advanced adaptability to help not to kill or capture. Use your brains. Say no to hunting and circus. The animals have a right to live freely in jungle. Let them.

4. Plastic only has one perfect use- Harm!

In the sea, in the animals, in the rivers, in the sewage system! Everywhere!

We are sure we have lower IQ than a toddler who still knows better and recognizes dustbins well !

5. Be water my friend, be water!

When Bruce Lee stated this quote, he must not have thought of water as colorless, formless and pure. Because water today seldom is all or any of these. It is highly polluted, intoxicated, infused with chemicals, used as vast dustbin, filled with garbage and the worst part being that it is not available readily now. And still we do not learn our lessons. The pic above describes the atrocities we do to water and our children. Perhaps it is the worst ever time to be a human.

Next time you take that full force shower do try to picture yourself in the above image. That might help.

6. Need to buy? Really?

There are a number of ways by which you can actually reuse things and in fact put them to better use. So what stops you?

7. But this all can be done...

..only when it is a combined effort from all over the world. Yes, even one or two individuals can change the world but just wonder the impact if all of us agree to take the matter in our hands and act wisely. It is not everyday that you get a beautiful planet and a life to thrive on it. So why should we waste this chance of doing good?

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children

The choice is yours- whether to make it a 'Happy Earth Day' in future times or let planet earth continue to rot and put an end to ourselves.
